Pennsylvania Supreme Court Announces
Disciplinary Board Appointments

HARRISBURG, April 8, 2003 — The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania today announced the appointment of two new members and the reappointment of a third on the Disciplinary Board — a special panel that investigates complaints about lawyer conduct.

Smith B. Gephart, Esq., of Dauphin County and Gary G. Gentile, Esq., Allegheny County, were appointed as new members of the board for a term of three years, beginning April 1.

Marvin J. Rudnitsky, Esq., of Snyder County, was reappointed to the board for a three-year term, beginning April 1.

The 16-member Disciplinary Board was created by the Supreme Court in 1972 to consider and investigate the conduct of any person subject to the Pennsylvania Rules of Disciplinary Enforcement. Such persons include any:

  • attorney admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania
  • attorney of another jurisdiction specially admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court for a particular proceeding
  • disbarred, suspended or inactive attorney, with respect to violation of any rules committed prior to disbarment, suspension or transfer to inactivity
  • justice, judge or district justice, with respect to any violation of rules committed prior to taking office, if the Judicial Conduct Board declines jurisdiction
  • attorney who resumes practice of law, with respect to any nonjudicial acts

For more information about the board or questions about possible misconduct by one of Pennsylvania's more than 51,000 practicing attorneys, contact the disciplinary board offices at Two Lemoyne Drive, Lemoyne, PA 17055, or call (717) 731-7073.
