Pennsylvania's Unified Judicial System
Launches New Online Resource

HARRISBURG, August 9, 2006 - In an effort to provide the public with more information about the courts and the judiciary, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts has introduced a new feature on the Web page of the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System (www.courts.state.pa.us) to replace the former "FAQ" section.

The new section is called "Asked & Answered." Its goal is to provide the public and the media with more information about the courts than has been readily available in the past, to provide accurate information on controversial topics and to make all such information easily accessible.

The Asked & Answered section also is intended to be a central point for information that already exists on the Web site, such as press releases, calendars, court decisions and opinions.

Among the new items on Asked & Answered are fact sheets that explain the powers, policies and practices of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Fact sheets are designed to set forth in a few paragraphs accurate information on topical issues, to clarify points of confusion about court operations and to answer questions on matters in controversy. Samples of the sheets are attached.

Another sub-section of Asked & Answered is titled "Programs that Make a Difference," a segment designed to inform the public about programs being developed by the Supreme Court and AOPC to improve the courts and to provide better service to those who use the courts around the Commonwealth.
