Pennsylvania Supreme Court Appoints
Streib HARRISBURG, September 5, 2006 - The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has announced the appointment of the Hon. Kelley T.D. Streib to the Court of Judicial Discipline. Streib, a magisterial district judge in Cranberry Township, Butler County, was appointed to a four-year term that began Aug. 16, 2006. The Court of Judicial Discipline consists of eight members. No more than two of the members appointed by each appointing authority may be of the same political party. The board was created by constitutional amendment in 1993 to act as an independent state agency. Half of the board members are chosen by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and the remainder by the governor. Members serve four-year terms. The court hears and decides charges filed against a judge, including magisterial district judges; judges of the Courts of Common Pleas, the Commonwealth Court and the Superior Court; and justices of the Supreme Court. The Court of Judicial Discipline has the authority to impose sanctions, ranging from a reprimand to removal from office, if the formal charges are sustained. # # # |
