VERSION 4 Modification 4.0 August 19, 1999 NEW DISTRICT JUSTICE AUTOMATED OFFICE CLERICAL PROCEDURES MANUAL Within the next few days you will be receiving, by way of UPS, a new District Justice Automated Office Clerical Procedures Manual. The new manual is composed of the following four books. Traffic/Non-Traffic Manual Civil/Landlord Tenant Manual Criminal/Miscellaneous Docket Manual Out of Case Processing Manual This new set of manuals replaces the 1993 version. Laser faxes issued since 1993 have been incorporated into the new manual. When your set of books arrives, look in the box for a letter from the Court Administrator of Pennsylvania. This letter explains and describes the purpose and functionality of the manual. The new manual also means a couple of changes in the appearance and the issuance of laser faxes. First, beginning with this laser fax, laser faxes are now Version 4. Second, laser faxes will be classified either as an update (Modification 4.xx) or as informational (Info 4.xx). Laser faxes that are Modifications will be limited to one topic per page so that they can easily be inserted into the manual, if appropriate. If a Modification is to be inserted into a manual, the heading of that page will identify the book, chapter, and page for insertion. Some Modifications, however, will not need to be inserted into the manual, and therefore, will not have a reference to a book in the heading. Laser faxes that are informational cover more than one topic per page since these faxes are not expected to be inserted into the manual. Informational (Info) laser faxes will not inform you of a change to a DJS screen, process, form, or report. An example of an informational laser fax is a notification that the DJS will be down on a certain date and time. Twice a year, manual update pages will be mailed to you. At that time, the laser faxes are to be removed from the binders and replaced with the permanent manual update pages. We hope that you find the new manuals to be very useful and practical for doing your daily work.
