EXAMPLE: pgpsig.log The .log file contains information generated when processing the posting.
    • It is used to establish security between the Prothonotaries office and the Web site where these postings appear.
    • It does not verify the security of the Web site after they are posted, or modifications or errors introduced during download to your desktop.
    • Establishment of a secure website owned by AOPC will allow these additional security measures in the future.
    • Copies of these opinions can be obtained directly from the the prothonotaries or through access to value added sites.

For the curious. Web posting via secure email as developed by the Information Technology Department of AOPC.

Typically when a court decision is handed down, the court prothonotaries:
    • Notify the parties,
    • make the decisions available to the public,
    • email copies of these opinions to various value added publishers, and
    • pack, encrypt and email a copy of the opinion to an AOPC mail server.
The AOPC mail server automatically initiates the following actions:
    • Decrypts, authenticates, validates, and verifies the posting,
    • unpacks the various files attached to the email,
    • composes an entry for the postings home page using the subject line of the email message,
    • renames the various files with 8 character generated file names and a wp5 extension,
    • and copies the files and updated postings home page to the web site.
The time of posting is reported on the Web page in Eastern Time, while the time of emailing by the prothonotaries is reported in the pgpsig.log in Greenwich Mean Time. (e.g. 20:40 GMT is 15:40 EST and 16:40 EDT) The final copy step will be automated as implemented progresses.
